I’ve been thinking a lot lately about what I actually want to make.
I don’t just want to document a birthday party or take a nice picture of your family standing together. I want to make art.
The kind of art that makes you stop for a second.
The kind that feels like your people—but somehow more beautiful, more intentional, more lasting than the everyday photograph could ever be.
That is a big part of why I started Founding Mothers.
Founding Mothers is a small group of women who are helping shape what Roadhouse Photography becomes in this next chapter. It’s about mothers, daughters, grandmothers, friendship, babies, growing families, ordinary days and the people who make our lives what they are.
And honestly, I don’t want to wait until the studio is finished to start making that work.
I don’t want to put sessions on hold until everything is perfect.
There are families I want to photograph now. There are stories I want to tell now. There are women whose hands, faces, laughter and relationships deserve to be made into something they can keep.
So that’s what I’m doing.
I’m making the art now.
I’m continuing to photograph families while the studio comes together. I’m continuing to invite women into Founding Mothers. And I’m making room for the kind of photography that has been pulling at me for a long time.
If you’ve been waiting for the studio to open, you don’t have to.
And if Founding Mothers has been tugging at you, there is still room to join us.
I don’t know exactly what all of this will become yet.
But I know this much:
I want to make art.
And I’d love to make some of it with you.
